The future of the country depends on the quality of healthcare services as well as societal well-being, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of Maldives Demographic and Health Survey 2016-2017 findings held at Hotel Jen on Thursday morning, VP Naseem stated that improvement in health services is not just the responsibility of the Ministry of Health, but is also the responsibility of every citizen, association government and institution.
Emphasizing on the importance of the survey findings, VP Naseem stated that the survey identified relationship between demographics and health.
In addition, the Vice President noted that the survey will also help the administration form strategies on improving the country’s health sector.
Pointing out the importance of shaping a healthier lifestyle, VP Naseem stated that the people need to let go of bad habits in order to prevent diseases. He also urged the people to eat healthier, to pick up the habit of exercising regularly in order to improve one’s physical and mental health.
VP Naseem also stated that the survey, reflecting on the ill effects of tobacco, will help the government set strategies and policies to cut back bad habits.
It is also notable that minimizing the use of tobacco products is included in President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s first-100-day agenda.
Expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the Health Ministry for preparing such a useful and informative survey, VP Naseem emphasized on the importance of the initiative.
