Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has met Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, the Minister of Commerce and Investment of Saudi Arabia.

They met each other on Wednesday during Minister Shahid’s trip to the Gulf Kingdom. The minister left to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, and is accompanied by Additional Secretary Ahmed Shiaan and other officials of the Foreign Ministry.

Minister Al Qasabi welcomed Minister Shahid, and discussed avenues on expanding cooperation in the commercial field between Maldives and Saudi Arabia. Both ministers further discussed increasing Saudi investments in Maldives, strengthening trade ties, and holding a networking forum for businesses in Riyadh.

Foreign Minister Shahid thanked Minister Al Qasabi for the generous assistance Saudi Arabia continues to provide to the developmental projects of Maldives.

Minister Shahid also met with Dr. Hamad Bin Sulaiman Al-Bazai, the Vice Minister of Finance.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance, Minister Shahid and the Vice Minister discussed ongoing and future projects and strengthening the economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Vice Minister reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to assist the Maldives to achieve the developmental goals set by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.
