President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday announced decision to create a corporation to provide affordable housing.

The company is to be named “Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation Limited” and will be 100 percent owned by the government.

The President’s Office stated that all current and future government housing projects will be handled by this corporation.

The corporation’s work will rely on the government’s housing needs assessment in order to ensure that applicants will be guaranteed a better future after receiving housing.

Earlier on Monday, The Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure launched an online portal through which people can apply for housing without waiting in queues.
