Six dengue-stricken children in F. Feeali have been taken to Male’ for further treatment.
They were transferred from the Feeali health center to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital by sea ambulance on Friday night.
Abdulla Zaeem, head of the health center, told RaajjeMV that they receive 30 patients a day with symptoms of fever and that a team from the atoll hospital is now in the island.
Island council member Ahmed Adam told RaajjeMV that 10 children have been tested positive for dengue and two of them were taken to Male’ by sea ambulance earlier on Wednesday, while four are still at the island health center.
Feeali, with a population of 1,240, has one doctor and three nurses working at the health center.
The council states that they are working with the health center to maintain public health and have been using insecticide for the past three days to reduce the number of mosquitoes.
