Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and the Ambassador of European Union to the Maldives, Tung-Lai Margue have discussed preparations for the upcoming policy dialogue between the EU and the Maldives.

Describing the dialogue as one that would contribute to the further enhance the relationship between Maldives and EU, the Ministry on Thursday issued a press release about Ambassador Margue’s courtesy call paid on FM Shahid.

The meeting held at the Ministry on Thursday, saw discussions between the pair on ways of further strengthening existing ties between Maldives and EU.

During the call, Ambassador Margue had assured that EU will provide assistance and support to Maldives on strengthening institutions, implementing anti-corruption measures in the country as well as battling terrorism.

The Ministry stated that FM Shahid had made a request to the EU Ambassador to ease Schengen Visa application process for Maldivians.
