Maldives Ambassador to Sri Lanka Umar Abdul Razzaq has presented his credentials to Sri Lankan President Maithiripala Sirisena.
The Ambassador presented his credentials at the President’s House in Colombo on Friday.
Ambassador Razzaq was appointed by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in late January.
Razzaq has said that he will focus on addressing the challenges faced by Maldivian residents in Sri Lanka, particularly the issues of visa facilitation and accessing services. He will also be discussing with the neighboring nation on enhancing cooperation on mutual areas of interest such as tourism and trade.
Razzaq has achieved a Master’s in Business Administration from Australia’s Edith Cowan University, and previously served as Minister of State for Home Affairs, Project Monitor at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and as a Shadow Foreign Secretary of the Maldives United Opposition.
