A total of five over-water villas were damaged in the fire
A fire at the Taj Exotica Maldives has caused damage to a number of over-water villas on the island.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) says that five over-water villas had been damaged by the fire.
The incident was reported at 4:48am on Tuesday, and it was quelled at 6:15am by the MNDF with assistance from resort staff.
While the fire originated at one of the villas, while it was occupied, no one was injured in the incident.
