Presidential commission on deaths and disappearance has on Monday launched a search for two suspects, in one of the most high-profile murders in the country’s history.

The commission, via twitter, announced that they are looking for two individuals regarding the murder of late parliamentarian Dr. Afrasheem Ali.

While a video linked to the tweet is very unclear, it shows an individual parked on Ameenee Magu in the Henveiru ward of the capital, opposite STELCO building. He is seen taking off as soon as another individual on a motorcycle approaches behind him; ‘spies’ changing shifts, according to the commission.

It asked to contact them at 3015794 or [email protected], if anyone has information on those seen in the video.

The commission had back in December announced that it was investigating 25 cases, revealing a list of the cases.

This includes the 2012 murder of Dr. Afrasheem Ali.

Dr. Afrasheem Ali’s body was found at the stairwell of his residence- Henveiru Funvilu- at around 1:30 am on 2nd October, 2012.

While the motive behind his murder still remains unclear, Hussain Humaam was convicted of the murder, and sentenced to death in 2014.

The lawmaker’s family has said that they do not believe that the investigation into the murder has been completed.
