The Maldives Customs Service has arrested a 21-year-old Bangladeshi man who attempted to enter the Maldives with three kilograms of cannabis.

The customs say that the man was arrested on January 12th, last Saturday, by airport security after the man displayed ‘suspicious behaviour’.

Customs officials were called to check the man’s luggage and upon doing so discovered three kilograms of what tested positive to be cannabis.

The cannabis and the man have been handed over to the Maldives Police Service. Last week, a 31-year-old Bangladeshi man was arrested while attempting to smuggle in a variety of drugs worth MVR 1.6 million in total.
