Last December, the state received MVR 1.4 billion through Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).

According to statistics from the state tax authority, MVR 1 billion was received as US dollars, which is USD 65 million.

According to the data, the income last month was one percent less than expected but 4.5 percent more than the amount MIRA received in the same month in 2017.

Most of the income last month came from Goods and Services Tax (GST), which is MVR 630 million or 43 percent.

MIRA received the second highest income from tourism land rent, which is MVR 352 million. The tax authority stated that they had failed to reach the expected amount of income after some companies failed to pay their tourism land rent.
