Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb was rushed to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment, on Saturday evening.

The ex-VP’s wife Mariyam Nashwa told RaajjeTV that she is not clear on why Adeeb was brought to the hospital and for what he is being treated for.

RaajjeMV understands that Adeeb is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Adeeb, who was serving a 33-year-long prison sentence was transferred to house arrest following a surgery after which the doctor recommended, he be kept in a “homely environment” until conclusion of his treatment. He was treated at IGM Hospital in November due to a health deterioration following which he underwent a surgery to dissolve stones in his ureter.

He was taken back to prison on 2nd January, after 36 days under house arrest.

Adeeb’s transfer comes after he had been elected as leader of new political party Maldives Third Way Democrats (MTD) and following his transfer, supporters and members of the party had expressed concern.
