Addu City Council has announced it’s decision to preserve and protect seven eco-rich wetlands in the region.
A resolution publicized on Thursday reads that the motive behind conserving said regions is to maintain their natural richness so that they may be experienced by the forthcoming generations as well.
The city council stated that the decision comes under President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s pledges to the nation.
It is part of President Solih’s first 100-days agenda to protect at least one island, one reef and one wetland from each atoll.
