Yameen to form new political party in fear of losing PPM leadership

Former President Abdulla Yameen has decided to form a new political party in fear of losing his leadership position in Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
A PPM council member told RaajjeMV that Yameen has been discussing the move with his associates.
The Supreme Court is looking into the issue of PPM’s leadership. Some party members have said that they are willing to form a new party if the PPM leadership is returned to former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
In a Facebook post, Adam Shareef, the defence minister in Yameen’s administration, said that he will contest in the parliament election as a member of the new party.
The Supreme Court is yet to hold a hearing in the case.
