Body of seven-year-old Rawshan Jian has been sent to Bangladesh.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, a family member said that her body was sent back home at around 09:15 on Monday night.

Rawshan Jian, eldest of two Bangladeshi nationals working as doctors in F. Nilandhoo, succumbed to injuries attained after a loaded cement bag fell on top of her while she was walking down the road in the capital on Sunday morning. She passed away on Monday afternoon while receiving treatment at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Rawshan had to undergo two operations; a six-hour operation on Monday and another hour-long operation early morning on Sunday.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has since said that it has launched a serious investigation into the incident, which happened due to negligence from W Construction.

While the accident caused public outcry, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday ordered the “immediate review of safety procedures, and inspection of all construction sites in Malé, so that more stringent measures may be put in place for the safety of workers and the general public.”
