Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) members have decided to hold a protest at the same time former President Abdulla Yameen is to be summoned to the police headquarters.
Yameen is to be summoned at 2pm on Saturday for questioning regarding illegal financial transactions while in power, states the police.
In a tweet, MDP asked the Maldivian citizens to come to its campaign site at 1pm to make Yameen remember the money he allegedly embezzled during his tenure.

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has stated that Yameen will walk to the police headquarters after leaving the PPM office with his supporters. PPM’s office and MDP’s headquarters are close by.
In a Facebook post, PPM’s vice president and former legal affairs minister Azima Shakoor said that Yameen is to be questioned over money that was deposited to his account during the presidential election, adding that the account had already been declared to the Elections Commission.
