Rescue officers have quelled a fire that broke out early Thursday on the Kuredu Island Resort in Lhaviyani atoll.

The Maldives National Defence Force said that the fire was reported at 12:48am and fully quelled at about 4:00am.

The fire originated at a storage room used by the island’s gift shop, which was nearly razed.

No one was injured in the incident, and the police are investigating it.
