The 24-year-old victim of a scuba diving accident that resulted in the death of another on Friday is now recovering, doctors have said.
Ahmed Shakir was brought to capital city Malé for treatment on Friday night and was considered to be in ‘critical’ condition.
A team of scuba divers submerged near the Outrigger Konotta Resort in Gaafu Dhaal atoll on Friday. A 37-year-old member of this diving team had passed away.
The three men were diving to catch bait fish in the area and dived 44-meters and remained under for over 35 minutes.
The Maldives National Defence Force says that they received reports of the incident, through the Thinadhoo Police Station at about 05:15am on Friday.
The military said it dispatched officers from their Southern Command base, who reached the 'Hushiyaaru' vessel that the divers used at about 06:05am.
