Maldives is to enter a ‘visa agreement’ with India that will ‘ease current difficulties’, as part of President Ibrahim Solih’s upcoming visit to India.
Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid revealed this through a post on his personal Twitter account.
A new visa agreement between Maldives and India will be signed during the upcoming State visit of President Solih. It will ease the current difficulties faced by parents and guardians of Maldivian students studying in India and Maldivians who travel to India for medical treatment

President Solih will leave for this trip on December 17th, the President’s Office has confirmed. Shahid himself recently concluded a visit to India, which he described as having been ‘immensely successful’.
Shahid had met with Indian President Ram Nath Kovind as well as External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
After said visit, Shahid his currently in the United Arab Emirates.
