Parliamentarians have decided to bring the proposed state budget for next year to a vote in Tuesday’s People’s Majlis sitting.

Speaker Qasim Ibrahim said on Monday that members of the house have until 18:00 to propose any further amendments to the budget.

While the Finance Ministry, under the outgoing administration, proposed a budget of 29.6 million, amendments made by the budget review committee increases it to over MVR 30.2 billion.

The state has estimated an income, through trade and aid, of MVR 23 billion.
