The Maldives Correctional Services (MCS) has refuted reports of two senior officials resigning.

MCS information officer Ahmed Luqman clarified to RaajjeMV that commissioner of prisons Ahmed Shinan and his deputy Hasssan Zilal have not resigned.

Luqman said that these reports surfaced due to a text message claiming as such, and to be from him, circulated. Luqman said that the messages are fake.

A number of politically appointed employees and senior civil servants have been resigning ahead of president-elect Ibrahim Solih’s swearing in ceremony, scheduled for Saturday.
