Local businesses have held a celebratory event in capital city Malé to congratulate president-elect Ibrahim Solih, vice president-elect Faisal Naseem and opposition leaders.

The event was held on Wednesday night in front of the State Trading Organization premises in capital city Malé. Opposition leaders Mohamed Nasheed, Qasim Ibrahim, and Sheikh Imran Abdulla were also at the event.

A number of businesses and industry associations have held similar events to congratulate the Joint Opposition and their common candidate, Solih.

Solih won the presidential elections held in September with 58.4 percent of the votes, a total of 134,705 votes. His rival, incumbent President Abdulla Yameen attained 96,052 votes.

Solih and Faisal with take their oaths of office on November 17th.
