Parliament to consider crucial motions at Sunday’s sitting
The parliament will vote on the date to hold president-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s inauguration
MPs will also vote on the motion to reverse former President Mohamed Nasheed’s terrorism conviction
The parliament will also consider the motions to repeal the Anti-Defection Act and Anti-Defamation Act

The parliament has tabled some crucial topics for Sunday’s sitting, which marks the start of the third and last session of the year.

At the sitting to begin at 9am, the parliament will vote on the date to hold president-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s inauguration.

All the Maldives presidents, except Abdulla Yameen, was inaugurated on November 11, Republic Day. President Yameen’s inauguration was postponed to 17 November 2013 due to issues in the election. Because of this, he has said that he will remain as president until November 17.

Since the opposition coalition currently holds the majority, the parliament is expected approve Solih and vice-president-elect Faisal Naseem’s inauguration for November 11.

On Sunday, the parliament will also consider the motion to reverse former President Mohamed Nasheed’s terrorism conviction.

The parliament will also, on Sunday, consider Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed’s motion to repeal the Anti-Defection Act and North-Henveiru MP Abdulla Shahid’s motion to repeal the Anti-Defamation Act.
