Dhihdhoo island council has decided to file a complaint against the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure after announcing that they had been unfair in issuing the island's housing units.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, council President Ali Hashim said that they had reached the decision in a meeting held on Wednesday where a majority of council members voted in favor.
The council President said that they had reached this decision because the ministry had been rather unjust in issuing the housing units that come under category A and B of the 250 housing units developed in the island. This was also done without deliberating with the council first.
Noting this has brought a lot of hardships for the islanders, Hashim revealed that they are currently carrying out all the legal procedures to file the complaint at the Maldives Police Service.
Previously, the council had accused the ministry of issuing the housing units to a specific group of ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) supporters.
Back then, the Local Government Authority had even taken measures against councilors for not complying with the ministry’s decisions.
