Hanimaadhoo MP Hussain Shaheed has criticized state media PSM for its biased reporting.
In a tweet on Friday, the MP said that, rather than the state media, journalists played a much larger role in accurately reporting the presidential election on September 23.
He said that a solution needs to be found for the state media to begin publicizing unbiased information to the public.
Responding to the tweet, Kendhoo MP and prominent attorney Ali Hussain said he is against the state media taking the taxpayer’s money while acting as the government’s ‘propaganda machine’.

In the past five years, PSM refused to give the opposition a platform by ignoring their activities and protests while providing live broadcasts to events organized by ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) events and promoting President Abdulla Yameen.
PSM has also faced criticism for airing pro-Yameen content during his election campaign.
