Ministry announces temporary list of 'Hiyaa' flat recipients
Lists for all of the categories except one, were publicized
The one category was for those who applied for one room apartments
Window for complaints opened till 2pm, 11th October

The Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has publicized a momentary list of applicants who have been allocated flats under the state housing scheme, “Hiyaa”.

At a press conference held on Tuesday afternoon, Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had announced that a window has been opened for complaint submissions.

He added that while the ministry will be responding to each and every submitted complaint, complaints may be submitted through e-mails or via writing as well. After going through the complaints and responding to each of them, the final list will be publicized.

Applicants will be permitted to fill out the complaint forms and submit them to the ministry before 2pm on the 11th of October.

While about 22,000 people have applied for the 7,000 flats to be issued under the government’s shelter program, the ministry had on Tuesday publicized the temporary list of flat recipients under every category except for one, the one-bedroom apartment category that are to be given to newly-weds.

The ministry has decided to give flats to all applicants under the category that comes under doctors and nurses as the maximum number of applicants were not reached with the remaining flats being transferred to other categories. As such, 110 of the flats have been transferred to teachers category and 50 to Male’ residents. However, there will still be 16 remaining flats, Muizzu is yet to announce what will be done with these.
