Ahmed Tholal, the project manager for Transparency Maldives, has said that president-elcet Ibrahim Mohamed Solih can lay the foundation for a transparent government by in their new administration.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s 60 Minutes programme on Friday night, Tholal highlighted Transparency International’s recent press release and said the new administration should not ignore those involved in the embezzlement of millions of dollars from the state during the transition period since it was likely that such crimes might be swept under the rug.

He advised all those involved in the transition to ensure that the citizens are made aware of such scandals and hold government officials accountable.

In the press release, Transparency International urged all politicians and civil servants involved in the transition to the newly elected government to ensure that there are no secret deals to allow those connected to corruption to escape accountability.
