President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and vice-president-elect Faisal Naseem met with Customs employees on Sunday.
Customs workers held a special event on Sunday evening to congratulate Solih for his landslide election win.
This was the first time that Solih and Faisal met with government workers since becoming the opposition coalition’s presidential candidate and running mate.
Commissioner General of Customs Mohamed Junaid said that they were the first government branch to host an event to congratulate Solih and Faisal and that it was an honor for them to meet with Customs employees.
He also said that many Customs workers support the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
