Parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh has no right to ‘besiege parliament’ and abuse the law, says Kendhoo constituency MP Ali Hussain.

Hussain said in a tweet on Wednesday that the speaker has effectively seized the rights of 350,000 citizens, referring to the contested dismissal of 12 lawmakers.

Hussain said that a parliamentary sitting needs to be held as soon as possible and a no-confidence motion put through against Maseeh.

A number of no-confidence motions have been submitted against Maseeh but was thrown out and even voted against through contentious means.
