With less than 12 hours to election day, Maldives police entered the Joint Opposition’s campaign headquarters on Saturday evening.
The police via its official twitter announced that officers were active at Shinetree Building ‘in order to stop the illegal activities being conducted there’.

A RaajjeMV journalist at the scene witnessed additional officers arriving there an hour after the tweet, as well as a video camera being taken in to the building.
Police have not disclosed the type of ‘illegal activities’ being conducted there.
As they were active there, both ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and the Joint Opposition continued to campaign-end activities in the capital. Both parties will not be allowed to campaign after 6pm on Saturday.
