Police vow to crackdown on violence following series of assaults
Police are actively searching for individuals encouraging violent acts to take legal action
Police say they will not allow anyone to label Male’ as a crime-ridden city
Last week saw a total of four violent assaults

The police service has said that it will crackdown on those who encourage violence.

Police said this in a press statement released after a teenager died after being stabbed near the MMA building on Friday night.

In the press statement, police said the case is being investigated as a serious crime and that they are also actively searching for individuals encouraging these acts in order to put a stop to it. They added that they will not allow anyone to label Male’ as a crime-ridden city.

While police have vowed to take legal action against those who encourage violence, last week saw a total of four violent assaults.

In a recent speech, President Abdulla Yameen said that “heinous acts” are being committed due to the upcoming presidential election. Regarding the gang assault near Iskandhar School on August 26, President Yameen said the victim is in serious condition but that he could not confirm that it was done by a particular group.
