Opposition coalition will not make a pledge they cannot keep: Running mate Naseem
'President Yameen has made a lot of pledges he failed to keep'
'Maldives will fall into slavery if President Yameen were to be elected for a second term'
Opposition coalition pledges to not allow political impediments to get in the way of the education system.

Maldives opposition coalition’s Presidential hopeful Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s running mate and Member of Parliament for Kaashidhoo constituency Faisal Naseem has stated that the opposition coalition will not make a pledge they cannot keep.

Speaking to residents of Faafu atoll Magoodhoo island at a gathering on Sunday night, Naseem said that the opposition coalition will make pledges that they can maintain. Naseem had at the gathering, stressed on how incumbent President Abdulla Yameen has failed to keep some of his promises during his five-year tenure.

“We will not pledge to give resort shares. We will not pledge to give MVR 10,000 to fishermen during lean months. But we are giving our word to work to promote the tourism industry” said Naseem.

Naseem said that there is a likelihood that citizens will suffer privation and possibly fall into slavery if President Yameen were to be elected for another term. He added that Maldives has gone through five years of grievance that the country has never seen in recent history, adding that if citizens let go of the opportunity to change their destinations by voting against President Yameen, they are letting go of the future of their kin.

Naseem further went on to pledge that a unity government run by the opposition coalition will not allow political impediments to get in the way of the education system.
