Government Housing Scheme
State's housing units will be ready by the start of 2019: Housing Minister
The units will be completed by 2019 and will be ready for occupancy by the beginning of the year
Minister Muizzu announced the beginning of a new housing scheme at Wednesday
The new scheme is titled "Accomplished Scheme" and is meant to house 80,000 citizens

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that the 7,000 housing units being constructed under the state’s housing scheme will be completed by the beginning of next year.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Minister Muizzu said that applications will be nullified if applicants decide to also apply for the new housing project named “Accomplished Scheme”.

“The flats under the housing scheme being constructed are close to being completed and it will be ready for occupancy by the beginning of 2019” said Dr. Muizzu.

The Ministry opened the opportunity for accepting applications for the housing scheme until the 31st of August. The scheme accommodates a population of about 80,000 people. The construction work will be concluded by 2019 according to the ministry and will comprise of 12 categories.

The categories are for civil service employees, wedded couples between ages 18 – 40, citizens registered in the Male’ registry, Male’ residents, doctors and nurses, teachers, single mothers and fathers, disabled persons as well as officers of the police and military. Moreover, flats are also to be issued to person who have not paid for the TATA housing units.
