Most cases of diarrhea recorded within previous week: HPA
1,561 people had reportedly sought treatment for diarrhea during the past week
Most reported cases had come from Male’ region and Raa atoll
Cases decreased during March and April, skyrocketing from May onward

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that the most recorded cases of diarrhea within the whole year was reported in the previous week.

According to statistics by the HPA, 1,561 people had reportedly sought treatment for diarrhea and this is a rapid increase in reported cases compared to ones reported within the past few years during the same period of time.

HPA further revealed that the most reported cases had come from Male’ region and Raa atoll.

While 3,110 individuals had reportedly been diagnosed for diarrhea throughout January this year, 3,197 had been diagnosed in February with the amount increasing to 2,735 in March then decreasing to 2,362 during April and again hitting 2,662 in May with the amount skyrocketing to 3,049 throughout June and then finally reaching 3,454 during July.

According to the agency, reported cases had been significantly high during the beginning of the year, with the amount decreasing during March and April and skyrocketing since then onward.
