Leaked clip reveals enmity for speaker Maseeh within PPM
The clip has four individuals saying and agreeing that it would be ‘hard not to vote against Maseeh’

A leaked audio-clip has revealed hostility for parliament speaker Abdulla Maseeh allegedly within the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives’ (PPM).
The clip, which was uploaded to Soundcloud on Wednesday has three individuals- allegedly lawmakers representing the ruling party, including parliamentary group leader Ahmed Nihan- saying and agreeing that it would be ‘hard not to vote against Maseeh’.
The uploader claims that said parliamentarians are Ali Shah, Mohamed Ali, and Abdulla Ahmed.
The no-confidence motion against Maseeh, filed with 26 signatures, will be voted on next Monday.
The voices on the thirty-three second clip further question if they would be able to appoint ‘who they want’ as speaker if Maseeh is ousted, who they were critical of for reportedly ‘never supporting’ them.
The six-point motion accuses Maseeh of ‘refusing to ensure’ equality in parliament, disregarding the rule of law, disrespecting the system of checks and balances, disregard for procedure, and ‘subverting’ democracy. An audio-leap where MP Nihan criticizing his colleagues in PPM over their lack of courage, was leaked last week, along with copious insight into government plans for Faafu atoll.
