Land reclamation has begun for the development of the HA. Hoarafushi Airport.
Reclamation work officially began on Friday night in Maafinolhu, near Hoarafushi island.
MTCC is tasked with reclaiming the land in Maafinolhu within six months for MVR 64 million.
MTCC’s hopper dredger Mahaa Jarraafu is set to reclaim 16 hectares of land to make way for the airport with a 1.2-kilometer runway.
At the project inauguration ceremony, MTCC CEO Ibrahim Ziyath said that they will also be using a cutter suction dredger and will attempt to complete land reclamation before six months.
MTCC is also involved in the development of the airports in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi and Sh. Funadhoo.
