Democratic reform efforts are something that ‘every citizen’ is beholden to by tenets of Islamic Sharia, Thulusdhoo constituency MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim has said.

MP Waheed, known more commonly as ‘Lawyer Wadde’ in reference to his legal profession prior to being elected to parliament, said that the Islamic Sharia does not accept tyranny and injustice.

Waheed said this in addition to having stated that incumbent President Abdulla Yameen ‘and his government’ are guilty of causing instability in the nation through said ‘tyranny and injustice’.

The lawmaker said this while speaking at a Joint Opposition event held on Wednesday night, where he also said that Maldivian citizens clearly know who the perpetrators of said injustice are.

Further, MP Waheed said that the result of working against said perpetrators of injustice has been that the four opposition leader are currently ‘unjustly and unfairly’ imprisoned.
