Non-resident Ambassador of Ghana presents credentials to Maldives President
The new non-resident Ambassador presented his credentials at a special ceremony held at the President's Office
The ceremony was held on Thursday morning
Both President and the new Ambassador discussed areas of mutual interest and ways to further heighten bonds

The non-resident Ambassador of Ghana to Maldives, His Excellency Michael Aaron Nii Nortey Oquaye Jnr presented his letter of credence to Maldives President Abdulla Yameen on Thursday morning at a special ceremony held at the President’s Office.

According to the President’s Office, Mike Oquaye Jnr had expressed his gratitude to President Yameen for accepting him as the new non-resident Ambassador to the Maldives and discussed with him, on discovering further areas of mutual benefits between both countries including education, human resource development and tourism.

The President had welcomed Mike Oquaye Jnr to Maldives and commended him on the commencement of his tenure as Ambassador of Ghana to the Maldives. After the Ambassador had presented his credentials, the President highlighted that nearly thirty years have passed since the founding of bilateral relations between the Maldives and Ghana, going on to express his hope that the existing brotherly bonds between the two countries will be heightened during this new tenure. The president emphasized the Maldives assurance in boosting bonds in areas of mutual interest especially in the international field.  

Both the President and Ambassador had discussed on ways to further strengthen the ties between both countries. The call was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim and Minister of state for foreign relations at the President’s office Mohamed Naseer as well.
