Islamic Ministry initiates cleaning program for Male' mosques
State as well as privately operated companies had partook in the cleaning initiative by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs that began at 08:45 on Saturday morning
Throughout Ramadan 1439, Islamic Ministry has scheduled several programs including forums, Quran competitions and religious lectures

Work to clean mosques in capital city Male' has begun as the holy month of Ramadan approaches.

State as well as privately operated companies had partook in the cleaning initiative by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs that began at 08:45 on Saturday morning.

Partaking companies include Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), state utilities company Fenaka Corporation, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), State Electric Company STELCO, Hajj Corporation, State Trading Organization (STO), Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) as well as Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB).

According to the schedule under the cleaning program, Masjidul Sultan Mohamed Imaaduddin, Masjid Al Sultan Mohamed Shamsuddin and Maafannu Mosque were assigned to MPL and Fenaka Corporation was assigned the temporary mosque in Maafannu, Eid and Dharumavantha Mosques.

MTCC was assigned Masjidul Noor, Masjidul Shaheed Ali, and Masjid Ibrahim. MWSC was assigned Masjid Jalaluddin, Masjidul Tha'avna, and Masjid Yousuf Barubari. 

Stelco was assigned Masjidul Furqan, Masjidul Sultan Adil and Masjid Salahuddin. Hajj Corporation was assigned Masjidul Sultan Mohamed Fareeedul Awwal and Masjid Afeefuddin.

STO will be cleaning Masjidul Sultan Hassan Izzudin and lastly, MIB will be cleaning the Friday Mosque.

While all the companies have been assigned mosques to clean, WAMCO will be managing all the disposals from each and every mosque.

Throughout Ramadan 1439, Islamic Ministry has planned several programs including Ihya Forums as well as Quran competitions for College and University students as well as outreach programs and religious lectures in mosques, distribution of the Mushaf for residents in Hulhumale and a countdown for Ramadan on social media.

The Ministry is also to open a religious trivia competition to public, scheduled to be held within the last 15 days of Ramadan 1439.
