President Yameen's ideology will become status quo in Maldives: Economic Minister

President Abdulla Yameen’s ideology will take effect in the Maldives and become the status quo for future generations, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has said.
The minister said this at a pro-government rally held in Veymandoo island, the capital of Thaa atoll, to kick off President Abdulla Yameen’s national campaign for the upcoming elections.
While President Yameen had not attended the rally, First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim had. Minister Saeed had described the Maldivian republic’s incumbent leader as a national hero.
“The progress and development President Yameen has brought to the Maldivian is clear, by God’s grace, we see something else to be clear, that President Yameen’s ideology will now be the status quo” Minister Saeed said.
Minister Saeed had also said that President Yameen is an exemplary leader, in that he does not differentiate between 'his people when it comes to the law'.
"What do we see now? Close or not? To our president, every one is equally obliged to obey the constitution" he said.
While minister Saeed made comments as such, the government has been accused of using statutes and laws to selectively target political opponents.
