The lawmaker is facing allegations of terrorism and for submitting false reports to a law enforcement body.
Mahloof has also been summoned on Monday over charges against him for posting a tweet about the condition of prisoners at the state’s detention facility in Maafushi island.
The parliamentarian is also facing obstruction allegations for having distributed face masks to protect fellow demonstrators at an opposition rally from pepper spray, in February this year. Police officers were known to use copious amounts of it, which resulted in the injury of both demonstrators and reporters on scene to cover the rally.
