Maldives’ Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has launched a special digital platform, “to monitor and streamline” its waste collection operations.

WAMCO is a state-operated enterprise and the sole trash collector in the Maldives, after banning private waste collectors in July 2017. It launched services in December 2016.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, WAMCO noted the purpose of launching the digital platform is “to make the waste collection process automated”.

The new digital platform will help the company monitor its services “in real time”, it noted, adding that this will help improve its services.

Noting that the digital platform was launched in Villimalé on Wednesday, WAMCO said that it will be launched in Hulhumalé tomorrow.

Furthermore, it highlighted plans to launch the service in capital Malé City, Addu City and Fuvahmulah City “in the near future”.
