Most Maldivians are against an Indian envoy coming to the country backed by its military, according to a RaajjeTV poll.
9,854 people voted in the Twitter poll on Wednesday.
70% percent of voters said they were against former President Mohamed Nasheed’s request to India to send a military-backed envoy to help release the judges and politicians.
28% were for it and 2% were undecided.
Nasheed, the opposition leader, requested an armed intervention from India on Twitter, after President Abdulla Yameen declared a state of emergency and arrested two justices of the Supreme Court, after the court ordered the release of nine political prisoners.
Nasheed also requested the United States to stop all financial transactions of senior officials of the Maldives government going through US banks.
The ruling party has strongly condemned Nasheed over the tweet, but the opposition coalition said his words were twisted, and that Nasheed actually requested an Indian envoy to solve the Maldives political crisis through negotiations.
At an opposition press conference on Thursday, Kendhoo MP and lawyer Ali Hussain said the current situation does not call for foreign military intervention.
