Ahmed Farhaan, who was charged with obstruction after he made a prayer (d’uaa) asking for an ‘end to tyranny’.
Farhaan was tried by the Hithadhoo Magistrate Court, which acquitted him in the first week of this January.
The prosecution had put forth charges of ‘obstructing the conduct of a state official’ and was apprehended on 12th August, moments after he concluded his prayer.
The maximum sentence that the court could have passed against Farhaan is a jail term of four months and 24 days.
Farhaan on Monday posted a photograph of himself with former President Mohamed Nasheed, moments before the latter gave a press conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Farhaan has expressed his commitment towards seeing the ‘end’ of the current government.
