Rescue officers find Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll missing 15-foot vessel
Officers began looking for the vessel on Saturday
The vessel was reported to have been missing since about 08:15 on Friday

Rescue officers have found a 15-foot vessel that was reported missing to them on Friday.

Officers began looking for the vessel on Saturday, after it was reported that it was missing since about 09:15 pm on Friday, when it was travelling from Vaadhoo to Gaddhoo in Gaafu Dhaal Atoll.

The Maldives National Defence Force had dispatched their own vessels and the missing boat was sighted near an uninhabited island in the atoll.

The search was complete less than three hours after it began, and all three passengers on board are safe from any injures, the MNDF said.

Officers said that rough sea conditions caused the vessel to capsize.
