AtollTV ordered to pay 1.5 million as frequency license fees

The Civil Court has order privately-operated broadcaster AtollTV to pay a sum of MVR 1.5 million, after the Maldives Broadcasting Commission contested for unpaid ‘frequency licensing’ fees.

Atoll Investments, the broadcaster’s parent company, was last Thursday ordered to pay licensing fees it had neglected to since 2014.

The sentence was passed in absentia and the company has been ordered to make the payment in full within a period of three months.

Any more fines incurred within the three month period is also payable by Atoll Investments, the ruling deemed.
