Rescue officers began attempts at quelling a vessel fire near Kendhoo island of Baa Atoll, reported to them on Friday morning.

The fire was reported to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) at 09:58 am. The MNDF has dispatched officers from their northern command center.

Officers say that the vessel is carrying large amounts of oil and has a crew onboard, of whom one had reportedly sustained several injuries. 

The injured crew member is an expatriate.
