MDP Congress: Preparations proceed with high enthusiasm!

Scheduled to begin on the first of next month, the congress will host over 980 delegates and feature a specialized investment forum specifically designed for island councils.

Preparations have commenced to host the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) congress at Thaise-Koshi, a site currently utilized for the administrative operations and services of the Male' City Council.
In an interview with RaajjeMV regarding the preparations for the MDP congress, Anwar Ibrahim, the party's president for the Thimarafushi constituency, stated that the installation of tents and other logistical arrangements at the venue are progressing at a rapid pace.
Anwar stated that a total of three tents will be erected on the premises to host the congress sessions and various events.
He stated that the setup includes the main tent for congress sessions and meetings, as well as dedicated tents for the investment forum and catering services.

Anwar stated that although they initially requested vacant land in Male' and Hulhumale' to host the congress, those arrangements could not be secured. Consequently, the Thaise-Koshi area was finalized following a request to the City Council. He further noted that they are receiving significant cooperation for this endeavor from all members of the Male' City Council, including the PNC councilors.
"We requested numerous venues. The party sought out every possible location within the Male' area capable of hosting an event of this nature. However, we were unable to secure even a vacant plot of land in Hulhumale'. Consequently, we approached the City Council to hold the event within their premises. At this juncture, I would like to highlight that the PNC councilors are also providing significant cooperation for our event. Despite being few in number, all councilors are working together to provide their full support to ensure this congress can take place."Anwar Ibrahim
He further noted that logistics such as tents, sound, and lighting are arranged with the assistance of party supporters and volunteers, while the party primarily covers expenses related to logistics and transportation.
Anwar stated that the opening ceremony of the congress is scheduled for the night of October 1, with a rehearsal set to take place on the night of September 30. He noted that while the opening session will be open to all party members and supporters, arrangements will be made for those outside the venue to view the proceedings via screens. However, Anwar clarified that only official delegates will be permitted to attend the sessions where voting is conducted.
The MDP has announced that over 980 delegates have registered to participate in this congress. A special investment forum will also be held during the event. According to the MDP, this forum will provide an opportunity for business leaders to invest in 100 commercial projects proposed by local island councils.
