MDP Congress: Shifaz states 986 delegates are currently in attendance

Despite expecting over 900 delegates to attend, the MDP expressed concern over the government's failure to provide a larger venue for the gathering.

The MDP Deputy Chairperson, Mohamed Shifaz, has announced that the party's upcoming congress will feature full participation from its members, noting that there are currently 986 registered congressmen.
Speaking at a press conference held by the MDP on Tuesday, Shifaz stated that although this year's congress will be held at the Male' City Council hall, they are committed to delivering a high-quality event that will make party members proud. Shifaz further noted that MDP members and interested members of the general public are welcome to attend the Male' City Council hall to observe or listen to the congress proceedings.
Shifaz stated that the congress will commence with an opening ceremony on the night of October 1st. As the following day is a Friday, sessions are scheduled to begin in the afternoon. According to Shifaz, an investment forum will be held from Friday afternoon through the evening. The formal proceedings of the congress are set to officially begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, Shifaz added.
Shifaz stated that the vote on the proposed constitutional amendments is scheduled for Saturday, adding that any changes approved by the congressmen to the governing statutes will be clarified by that evening.
At present, 986 individuals have been officially designated as party congressmen. Within the first 24 hours of opening registration, more than half—exceeding 500 delegates—have already registered. I anticipate that this number will double by the end of the day.Mohamed Shifaz
Furthermore, Shifaz highlighted that the government had failed to facilitate any venue within the Greater Male' Area for the congress. He also noted that their request to use Hulhumale' Central Park was denied.
