Suspect arrested in connection with dangerous accident on Sosun Magu remanded for 15 days

Following his arrest under a court order, the suspect has been remanded in custody for 15 days as authorities continue their investigation into the accident, which left three people injured.

The court has ordered a 15-day remand for the individual arrested in connection with a serious collision between two motorcycles on Sosun Magu in Male'.
Police stated that a 21-year-old Maldivian man, who was operating the motorcycle, was arrested under a court order on September 22, 2026, in connection with the case. Upon being produced before the court for a remand hearing, the court ordered him to be remanded in custody for 15 days.
Police received a report of a serious collision involving two motorcycles on Sosun Magu at approximately 1:12 AM on September 21, 2026.
Three individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries in the incident. The victims have been identified as two Maldivian men, aged 21 and 22, and a 26-year-old Maldivian woman. The injured woman received medical treatment at ADK Hospital, while the two men were treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
According to police, the 21-year-old individual operating one of the motorcycles involved in the accident did not possess a valid driving license.
The Maldives Police Service is currently investigating the matter.
