During the event, where the President was presented with a commemorative plaque by the Saudi Ambassador, he highlighted Saudi Arabia as a key partner in achieving the Maldives' development goals through 2040.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that within the framework of the relationship between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, the Maldives is ready to act not merely as a recipient of development assistance, but as a partner sharing progress through trade and investment.
The President made these remarks while speaking at a special reception held at Kurumba Maldives on Wednesday evening to commemorate the 96th National Day of Saudi Arabia.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Muizzu stated that the enduring relationship between the two nations is a testament to Saudi Arabia’s trust in the Maldives and its steadfast commitment to supporting the country’s development. He further emphasized that this strong foundation is essential for the Maldives as it strives to achieve developed nation status by 2040.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted that as a new chapter in bilateral relations begins, numerous opportunities are emerging to expand economic ties, investment, and development partnerships. He specifically assured that the Maldives welcomes Saudi investments in sectors such as tourism, infrastructure development, housing, healthcare, and fisheries, as well as renewable energy.
Reflecting on the history of bilateral relations between the two nations, the President expressed his gratitude for Saudi Arabia's continuous support, particularly following the 2004 Tsunami disaster and in the years since. He further commended the rapid development and economic transformation taking place in the Kingdom under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
During the ceremony, the Saudi Ambassador presented a special commemorative plaque to the President. This year, Saudi Arabia is celebrating its 96th National Day under the theme "Our Pride is in Our Nature."
